December, 1985 On the governmental budget bill for the 1986 fiscal year, we received unofficial announcement from the Government regarding the allocation of investigation expenses for the plan that synthesized graduate school.
April, 1986 "Plan in establishing the Graduate School of Marine Science and Engineering within the Graduate School of Nagasaki University" was published.
May, 1986 The outline of the plan above was published.
April, 1987 "Department of Marine Production Research and Development" was established as an independent department within the Graduate School of Engineering.
April, 1988 The Graduate School of Marine Science and Engineering (the doctoral course with the latter three-year term) was established. ("Department of Marine Production Research and Development" and "Department of Marine Resources Research and Development")
December, 1996 "Organization Review Board" was established in the Graduate School of Marine Science and Engineering.
April, 2000 "The Graduate School of Marine Science and Engineering" changed its system to become a five-year coherent doctoral course including the former master's course as the first two-year term of the doctoral course and its name was also changed to "The Graduate School of Science and Technology".
The two former master’s courses, "The Graduate School of Engineering (6 departments)" and "The Graduate School of Fisheries (1 department)", were united as five departments in "The Graduate School of Science and Technology".
"Department of Systems Science" was newly established in the latter doctoral course.
April, 2001 "Department of Marine Production Research and Development" and "Department of Marine Resources Course Research and Development" were reformed and rearranged to establish "Department of Marine Science and Technology" and "Department of Materials Science" respectively.
One cooperative division was established in the Department of Marine Science and Technology.
April, 2004 "The former master’s courses, "The Graduate School of Environmental Systems Engineering (2 departments)", was united as two departments in "The Graduate School of Science and Technology.
Department of Environmental Science" was newly established in the latter doctoral course.
